Starting from September 1, 2027, students in grades 10-11 in Russia will begin to master artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for use in their studies and daily lives. This was announced on October 18 by Maxim Kostenko, an expert at the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, head of the V. S. Lednev Institute of Educational Content and Methods.

"The changes also affected meta-subject results. They now include the ability to apply artificial intelligence technologies," Kostenko said.

He explained that schools should provide conditions under which graduates will understand the basic principles of AI and be able to apply such tools in their studies and daily life.

On October 10, the press service of the Ministry of Education reported that a mandatory course on artificial intelligence will be introduced in Russian schools from the new academic year: the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation has already begun teacher training. It was specified that 250,000 teachers will be trained — almost a quarter of all teachers in the country.
