French President Emmanuel Macron has said that rioters during the protests will be brought to justice. He announced this on October 17 in the social network X (former. Twitter).

"There is no place for violence in our republic. Those who attacked shops and city halls will be brought to justice and punished according to the law," the message says.

The French leader also stressed that the authorities would resist the organizers of the riots, who prevent peaceful protesters from expressing their demands.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez reported on the same day that more than 550,000 people took part in 110 protests. At least 400 people have already been detained during the riots. It was also reported that in connection with the urban riots during the protests, French Prime Minister Sebastian Lecornu headed the interdepartmental crisis group at the Interior Ministry. Farmers, climate activists, and former members of the Yellow Vests movement joined the large-scale protests of students and schoolchildren.

In Limoges, an arson attack in the city hall started a fire, and the bell tower collapsed. In Marseille, on October 17, participants in an aggressive demonstration broke down the front door and broke into the city hall.
