Journalists waiting for the arrival of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the press center of the European Council were confronted with an unpleasant smell due to an unknown person who repeatedly "spoiled the air" in the room. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on October 16.

"Journalists waiting for President Volodymyr Zelensky at the European Council's press center have repeatedly had to put up with a fetid farter in their ranks," the publication says.

As the newspaper notes, similar cases have occurred before. In particular, on the previous evening, several media representatives, including a Politico correspondent, were forced to leave the diplomatic briefing due to "such a strong unpleasant smell that the eyes of those present watered."

The authors of the publication suggested that the reason for what was happening could be coffee and the busy work schedule of journalists who were afraid of missing important statements. The identity of the person who caused the incidents remains unknown.

During the EU summit, Zelensky appealed to the leaders of the association with a request to provide Kiev with at least €70 billion in additional financial assistance in 2027 to finance defense and arms purchases. According to the Ukrainian president, the total cost of military operations next year will reach 155 billion euros. In particular, Kiev expects to allocate additional funds to expand the production of drones.
