A criminal case on the withdrawal of more than 250 million rubles for forged documents against blogger Valeria Chekalina (known as Lerchek) was sent to the Moscow City Court to consider complaints from the defense and appeal against the verdict. This follows from the materials that Izvestia reviewed on October 16.

Earlier, the Gagarin Court in Moscow sentenced Chekalina to five years in prison, suspended for three years, and fined 765 million rubles. In addition, she was banned from administering websites for three years. The blogger did not admit her guilt.

Another criminal case against Lercek and her ex-husband Chekalin was opened in October 2024. The ex-husband and wife, as well as their partner Roman Vishnyak, were suspected of illegally withdrawing more than 250 million rubles from Russia to Dubai using forged documents (art. 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Chekalin, like Lercek, denied involvement in the withdrawal of funds abroad, but pleaded guilty to violating tax laws. On April 13, Lercek's ex-wife was sentenced to seven years in a penal colony with a fine of 194 million rubles. Vishnyak was sentenced to 2.5 years in a penal colony with a fine of 500 thousand rubles.

On February 24, Chekalina gave birth to her fourth child with Argentine choreographer Luis Squicciarini. The day after her discharge, she was hospitalized, and the dancer reported that Lercek had been diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer with metastases, after which she announced that she was undergoing chemotherapy. On March 16, the blogger was released from house arrest, and the criminal proceedings against her were suspended.

The criminal case against Chekalina was transferred to another judge on June 19. Prior to that, the prosecutor's office applied to the metropolitan court with a request to conduct a second forensic medical examination of the blogger. The reason for the appeal was publications on social networks in which Lercek demonstrated active sports during the days of undergoing chemotherapy.

The proceedings in the Chekalina case were resumed on July 24. The first hearing took place six days later, and it was held behind closed doors.
