A system for protecting oil refineries from external attacks has been created and is successfully operating in Russia. This was announced on Friday, October 16, by Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week.

"Any raids <...> take their toll. But we have built a whole system on how to counteract this. We work strictly according to our system. We are still coping," RIA Novosti quoted Tsivilev as saying.

The Minister also noted that the stable supply of fuel to the domestic market remains a key priority for the ministry. The corresponding instruction was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On July 4, Putin signed a law aimed at providing the domestic market with gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as supporting Russian oil refineries. The document provides for measures to support the production of motor gasoline, including the production of fuel by mixing straight-run gasoline with other components.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak also spoke about the methods used to protect the refinery in early September. He specified that the factories have both active and passive defense systems in their arsenal. According to him, passive is associated with the creation of certain engineering structures that do not allow attacking the main equipment.
