Summary of the special operation in Ukraine for the week

A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. From October 10 to October 16, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out massive and seven group strikes, as a result of which enterprises of the military-industrial complex, logistics and telecommunication centers, transport infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, places of production and storage of drones, ammunition depots and military equipment, as well as temporary dislocations of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries.

In addition, a number of infrastructure facilities of Ukrainian ports that provided reception, storage and distribution of military cargo were disabled. During the week, 15 dry cargo ships involved in the supply of Western weapons, military equipment, fuel and property for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were hit.

Units of the North group of forces continued to tighten the encirclement of enemy formations in the north-east of the Kharkiv region and expand the external control zone. Last week, as a result of active and decisive actions, the settlements of Lukashovo, Lobanovka, Reznikovo, Kupino, Nefyodovka and Chernoe were taken under control, and yesterday control was established over the settlements of Varvarovka and Nikolaevka in the Kharkiv region. All attempts by the enemy to break out of the encirclement have been stopped.

Also, in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, six mechanized, two motorized infantry, two airmobile brigades, an assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, four air defense brigades and a National Guard brigade were defeated. During the week, the enemy lost more than 1,675 military personnel, five armored combat vehicles, 82 vehicles, three field artillery guns and eight electronic warfare stations in the North group of forces' area of responsibility.

During the week, the fighters of the Center group of forces liberated the settlements of Novotroitskoye, Petrovskoye and Lidino of the DPR as a result of active actions. Formations of four mechanized, jaeger, airborne brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade and three National Guard brigades were defeated. In total, in the area of responsibility of the Center group of forces, the losses of Ukrainian armed forces amounted to more than 2,740 military personnel, 37 armored combat vehicles, 76 vehicles, 11 field artillery guns and 11 electronic warfare stations.

During the week, the units of the Vostok group of forces continued to advance into the depths of the enemy's defenses, the Nikolskoye settlement of the Zaporizhia region was liberated. The manpower and equipment of the mechanized, assault, three amphibious assault brigades, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and two marine brigades were defeated. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area amounted to over 1,695 military personnel, seven armored combat vehicles, 53 vehicles, three field artillery guns and two electronic warfare stations.

Air defense systems shot down seven guided aerial bombs, two US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, four Flamingo long-range cruise missiles, a Neptune long-range guided missile and 5,695 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 674 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 263,235 unmanned aerial vehicles, 672 anti-aircraft missile systems, 31,251 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,790 multiple rocket launchers, 36,738 field artillery and mortars, 74,686 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.
