- Zakharova called the tightening of mobilization in Ukraine Zelensky's game in a meat grinder
The tightening of mobilization measures in Ukraine is a "favorite meat grinder game" led by the country's president, Vladimir Zelensky. This was stated on October 16 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing.
"In the conditions of an acute shortage of manpower in the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to large-scale losses at the front and mass desertion, the Kiev regime does not give up trying to save the forced mobilization from final failure <... > This is Zelensky's childhood dream of playing a meat grinder, which has been realized today, as his mother used to say, telling him what toys little Zelensky played with," she said.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ukrainian authorities continue to strengthen mobilization mechanisms, trying to compensate for the losses and shortage of fighters. She added that the Baltic countries have joined Kiev's policy of returning draft-age refugees to Ukraine. Currently, more than 52,000 Ukrainian citizens are under temporary protection in Lithuania.
Zakharova also criticized Vilnius' actions and linked them to tougher mobilization measures. In her opinion, such decisions are aimed at assisting Kiev in making up for the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In September, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Viktor Vodolatsky noted that the losses of the Armed Forces units were increasing and could no longer be compensated by replenishing personnel. He clarified that Ukraine has begun to carry out a covert mobilization of women, but some of them subsequently surrender.
