The frequent occurrence of bears near tourist sites and settlements has hindered domestic tourism in Siberia. This was reported on October 15 in the report of the Bank of Russia "Regional Economy: comments of the State Duma".

"Force majeure situations related to natural phenomena (frequent cases of bears entering populated areas and tourist sites) have hindered domestic tourism," the Central Bank's Siberian General Directorate says.

According to experts, camp sites, national parks and forest-park areas of Siberia have become virtually inaccessible for recreation, and travel refusals have become more frequent in some areas.

At the same time, sales of foreign tours in August – September continued to grow by 5-10% in annual terms, the report notes.

Zoologist and hunting expert Mikhail Kretschmar told Izvestia on October 14 about the means of protection from bears in case of a sudden encounter. When encountering an animal, it is important not to shout, but to move away quietly or scare it away with a calm voice, loud music, or a jacket raised above your head. The expert also recommends carrying warning whistles.
