Denis Cheryshev refused to join Fakel for the sake of his family

Midfielder Denis Cheryshev turned down the opportunity to transfer to Fakel Voronezh. This was announced by the footballer's agent Christian Orosa in an interview with Sport24.

According to the player's representative, the club's representatives contacted him directly, but Cheryshev decided to reject the offer. The main reason for the refusal was the geographical location of Voronezh, where the club is based.

"The reason is solely the family. Voronezh is quite close to the border with Ukraine, and Denis had to take this factor into account," Orosa explained.

The agent stressed that financial conditions did not play a role in this decision, since at this stage of a football player's career, the well-being of his loved ones is a priority. At the same time, Cheryshev does not rule out returning to Russia and is ready to consider other career options. As of October 2026, the 35-year-old midfielder is a free agent.

"We are fully open to offers from Russia. Denis would be happy to continue his career in Russian football. We are ready to consider, among other things, proposals from the RPL and the First League," Orosa said.

It is important for a football player to find a project that will meet his professional expectations and will allow him to maintain the necessary balance between work and family. Orosa noted that the midfielder is open to offers from both the Russian Premier League (RPL) and the First League. The main criterion for choosing a new job will be a balance between sports ambitions and family interests.

The player's last place of work was the Krasava club (Cyprus Krasava Eni Ipsonas), for which he played from February to August 2026. As part of this team, Cheryshev played 13 matches, in which he scored two goals and two assists. Earlier in his career, the midfielder defended the colors of such European giants as Spanish Real Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla and Villarreal.
