On October 15, epidemiologist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko called for speeding up the pace of flu vaccination in Russia.

"It is necessary to carry out vaccination in a more organized and accelerated manner," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to Onishchenko, due to the upcoming sharp cold snap, an increase in the number of cases is expected, which may complicate the vaccination campaign. In this regard, vaccination needs to be organized more efficiently and carried out at an accelerated pace.

On August 26, Rospotrebnadzor announced that the optimal time for flu vaccination is September and October for the successful formation of immune protection.

In September, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Netesov said that this year's flu vaccination is especially relevant due to the update of all three components of the vaccine. According to him, influenza viruses are constantly evolving, so the vaccine composition is adjusted annually. This season, the three-component preparation includes new variants of the Hong Kong type influenza virus, the H1N1 pandemic virus (swine flu) and the type B influenza virus.
