Deadly attacks

According to official data, in the period from August 1 to October 13, 2026, cases of bear aggression against humans were reported in 14 Russian regions. One of the most high-profile incidents was the tragedy in the Altai Republic. On August 19, a predator attacked a tent with tourists near the village of Artybash. The victim of the beast was a 29-year-old girl who was dragged out of a tent by an animal in front of her fiance, killed and buried in a wooded area.

In October, new deaths were recorded in the Irkutsk region. The body of a 56-year-old man was found near the Tarea River near the Bratsk reservoir. Another remains were found 15 km from the village of Kaimonovo in the Nizhneilimsky district. The deceased turned out to be a 47-year-old resident of the village of Rechushka, who was previously considered missing.

The representative of the department, Yulia Golovacheva, provided information about one of the victims in the Irkutsk region. According to her, the man went into the forest and did not contact his loved ones for a long time, which is why his search began.

"Relatives believed that he had gone hunting and had not returned, and therefore was listed as missing," Golovacheva said.

Deaths have also been recorded in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. On September 25, a 51-year-old woman died in the village of Voznesenka. According to the regional GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia, she saw a predator in her backyard when he was trying to get into the pen to pets. The beast attacked the woman, and she died on the spot from her injuries. The bear was shot by a neighbor of the deceased. Another attack took place on the night of September 16 in the village of Verkhny Kebezh, where a pensioner fell victim to a predator in the courtyard of a private house.

On September 29, the body of a man with signs of a predator attack was found in the Sobolevsky district of the Kamchatka Territory. The investigative authorities of the SU IC of Russia for the region clarified that the incident occurred near the village of Ustyovoye, and the animal was eliminated on the spot. According to Gosokhotnadzor, the deceased was picking cranberries alone in the tundra. The bear approached him when the man had already filled a bucket with berries.

Rescue from a bear in Primorye

In Primorsky Krai, fisherman Vladimir Odulo managed to survive after meeting a bear on October 7 thanks to his dog. The man was fishing on the riverbank when an animal suddenly jumped out of the forest rubble at him. Vladimir Odulo tried to defend himself with a fishing rod, but the predator knocked him down and inflicted serious injuries to his face, arm and groin.

Despite severe injuries and damage to the eye, the victim remained conscious. After the bear disappeared into the forest, he was able to cover more than 20 km on his own on the way to his home in the village of Lenino. On the way, the fisherman called an ambulance, and a medical team went to meet him.
