According to the EAIS Film Foundation, the film "Battle of the Motors" earned more than 282 million rubles at the start, winning the race for domestic film distribution. The film about the first production car in the Russian Empire left behind not only the second part of the Twilight saga, but also The Ninth Planet, another film starring Yuri Borisov. Meanwhile, Alexander Voitinsky's cartoon "The Adventures of a baby mammoth. In search of Mom" continues to win the hearts of the audience. The total cash of the project has already exceeded 200 million rubles. The main results of last weekend in cinemas are in the Izvestia article.

Yura vs. Jacob

The drama "Battle of Motors" starring Ivan Yankovsky and Yura Borisov showed the best result. Ilya Malanin's project to create a Russo-Balt car and Andrei Nagel's participation in the Monaco Rally has grossed more than 282 million rubles. In addition to the two main stars, "Battle of the Motors" surprises with unprecedented action for Russian cinema, racing retro cars and a full-fledged visual immersion in the era of the early 20th century. All together, this led to a solid performance of 18 viewers per session.

— The "Battle of Motors" distinguished itself with a large-scale PR campaign. The film was also vividly noted in digital — trends from the site went viral on social networks. Yura Borisov and Ivan Yankovsky even got behind the wheel of a taxi and drove random passengers around Moscow," Olga Zinyakova, general director of the KARO cinema chain, told Izvestia. — Perhaps the main success factor was the early announcement: the audience did not hear about the film 1-2 months before the release. The first information guides appeared a year ago. "Battle of the Motors" did not become another film about racing. The audience was waiting for the release of this blockbuster, which was reflected in the first weekend's collections. The project has gained good word of mouth and will compete for the billion mark. The only threat is the biopic "Hands Up! 2".

The second part of the vampire cinematic universe "Twilight. The saga. New Moon" grossed 80 million rubles in the premiere weekend of re-release. This is noticeably lower than the figures of the first part, which at the start mastered more than 164 million rubles in cinemas.

— The first part of Twilight is the most famous and quoted. It is quite expected that "New Moon" will not be able to surpass her in fees. But 80 million for a film to be re—released is still a grand result," Zinyakova stressed.

Over the years, the second part has not become a cult. Even fans of the saga criticize the film for its ragged narrative, lack of action in the plot, and depiction of werewolves. The wolves in the film literally change size from frame to frame, which is especially striking when viewed on a large screen. Nevertheless, "New Moon" took the second place in the box office, and the average number of viewers per session was 17 people.

The box office top 3 is completed by "Adventures of a baby mammoth. In search of Mom." Alexander Voitinsky's cartoon has already earned more than 200 million rubles, of which almost 75 million — on the second weekend. The average attendance remains high — 16 people per session. The full-length version expands on the story of Dina Nepomnyashchaya and offers the viewer a detailed story of the journey of the baby mammoth from the Arctic to Africa. New characters appear in the plot, including the main character's friend chick Puffin. He dreams of becoming a big star and travels to another continent to take part in a talent contest.

Choose fairy tales and thrillers

In the honorable fourth place is "The Ninth Planet", still starring Yura Borisov. By the third week of rental, fees had dropped by more than 45%, which is quite significant for projects of this scale and genre. Part of the reason is competition within the rental industry: Borisov now has to compete with himself. The outcome of the battle is clearly not in favor of the fantastic story on the mysterious Ninth Planet — the collections of Nikolai Rybnikov's painting amounted to about 60 million rubles.

Next in the top of the box office is the film for a family audience "Princess Nesmeyana" starring Anastasia Krasovskaya and Slava Kopeikin. The film company has credited another 56 million rubles to its account. The total cash is approaching 160 million rubles. The plot of the tape is somewhat different from the classic fairy tale: the main character Yerem is a modern guy who suddenly finds himself in a Faraway kingdom with his sister. It is important for him to make Princess Nesmeyana laugh in order to return home. But soon he realizes that the girl's sadness hides a dream of true love.

The thriller "Tower 2" still shows noticeable results. The painting earned another 38 million rubles. The total cash register is slowly but surely approaching 300 million rubles.

— "Tower 2" shows an excellent result for a genre project. The sequel has already surpassed the original part by one and a half times at the box office. Fans of action-packed thrillers highly appreciated the film, and for the third weekend it is running on a good sundress. The lack of competition also helps — "The Ninth Planet" and "Battle of the Motors" overlap in audience, but uncritically," Zinyakova noted.

Alexey Nuzhny's film "How Ivan Got into a Fairy Tale" has less impressive results. The fees for the weekend amounted to about 27 million rubles. Nevertheless, the total figure already exceeds 380 million rubles. Iconic, unlike New Moon, the first Twilight earned another 14 million rubles at the box office. The operating time per session is still maintained at a high level and amounts to 17 viewers. Since the start of the re-release, the story of the birth of love between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen has been watched by more than 760,000 viewers on the big screen. At the same time, the cash register exceeded the limit of 400 million rubles.
