A Class M flare occurred on the Sun
A Class M flare lasting 31 minutes was recorded on the Sun. This was announced on October 9 on the website of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG").
"At 17:09 Moscow time, an M1.4 flash was registered in the X—ray range in the spot group 4547 (N15W88)," the message says.
According to experts, on October 9 and 10, solar activity will range from moderate to high. At the same time, the probability of occurrence of the most powerful Class X flashes is estimated as low.
The day before, the most powerful solar flare since the end of summer was recorded. It was noted that the flare occurred in the immediate vicinity of the center of the solar disk. This location gives the flare a chance to have an impact on Earth.
