Drobysh named potential Intervision participants from Russia

Musicians Philip Kirkorov, Polina Gagarina and Valeria could represent Russia at the next international music competition "Intervision". This opinion was expressed on Friday, October 9, by composer and producer Viktor Drobysh in a comment to RIA Novosti.

According to Drobysh, there are many "great artists" in the country who can perform at this show. In addition to the recognized pop stars, the producer singled out representatives of the younger generation of performers — Vanya Dmitrienko and singer Marfa (Marfa Nikolaeva).

The composer paid special attention to the candidacy of Philip Kirkorov, calling him a worthy artist with extensive professional experience.

"I think that if he prepares very seriously, he will raise the contest to another level: if he does not withdraw from the vote, guided by the fact that he is above this," Drobysh said.

This remark by the producer could have been an indirect reference to the incident involving singer Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov) at Intervision last year in Moscow, when he performed the song "Straight to the Heart" and asked the jury not to evaluate his performance, explaining this by the laws of hospitality.

The revived Intervision took place in Moscow for the first time after a long break in 2025. The final of the competition was held on September 20, 2025 at the Live Arena stadium. The event was attended by performers from 23 countries, including China, India, Brazil, the UAE, Serbia and African countries. The victory was won by Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc with the song "Phu Dong Thien Vuong". The organizers of the event have already announced that Saudi Arabia will host the Intervision Song Contest in 2026. The closed Kingdom Arena stadium in Riyadh is being considered as a possible venue for the show, but the final dates and venue are still being negotiated.

The rules of Intervision have significant differences from European music competitions. In particular, the artist's victory does not give his country the automatic right to host the next competition. In addition, the jury members do not have the right to evaluate a participant representing their own State.
