Michael Jackson's jacket from Thriller video to be auctioned

Iconic items from Michael Jackson's stage wardrobe, including a red and black jacket from the Thriller video and accessories from his performance at the Motown 25 show, will be auctioned in Abu Dhabi on December 7. This was reported by People magazine.

The Thriller jacket has become one of the most recognizable looks in the history of pop music. The red and black leather model with wide shoulders and geometric lines was designed by costume designer Deborah Nadulman Landis. After the video was released in 1983, the jacket became a symbol of Jackson's style and significantly influenced the pop culture of the 1980s.

Items related to the singer's performance on the Motown 25 TV show in 1983, during which he performed the moonwalk, will also be put up for auction. Among them are a glove decorated with rhinestones and black shoes, which have become part of the artist's stage image. Shoes from the filming of Thriller and other accessories are also announced among the lots.

According to the publication, these items are being returned to auction for the first time in almost 20 years. Interest in them is connected not only with the history of Jackson himself, but also with how his stage images became part of the visual culture of pop music.

From Marilyn Monroe to Indiana Jones: how much did iconic movie costumes sell for

On October 6, The Guardian newspaper announced the auction of an axe from Stanley Kubrick's film The Shining. This prop was used by Jack Nicholson during the filming of one of the most important scenes of the film — his character Jack Torrance breaks through the door, behind which his wife Wendy, played by Shelly Duvall, is hiding. The same axe in the plot became the murder weapon of Dick Halloran, played by Batman Crothers. The value of the lot is estimated at 30-50 thousand pounds.
