The Ordynka Theatre in Moscow has opened after extensive renovation. Now the renovated space should become one of the important cultural centers of Zamoskvorechye. This was announced to Izvestia on October 8 by Alexey Fursin, head of the Moscow Department of Culture and Minister of the Moscow City government.

"After the renovation work, the life of the theater on Ordynka will not be limited only to performances and an evening poster.: It will be open to Muscovites and guests of the city throughout the day, it will be possible to come here to a cafe or to a cultural event. For example, in addition to the updated dressing rooms, a bookstore and a gallery have appeared in the lobby," he said.

The cultural code of Zamoskvorechye formed the basis of the update. The architects formed the concept of a "City within a city" by combining various spaces, routes, transitions and ornaments typical of the area in the theater. For example, the design of one of the benches in the lobby is based on a historical photograph of the Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery.

A separate part of the new space will be the Za-Moskvo-Rechye photo project, which combines the works of famous Russian photographers Igor Mukhin, Vladimir Fridkes and Mikhail Rozanov. The photographs are integrated into the interior of the theater and tell about Zamoskvorechye, its inhabitants, architecture and cultural environment through different artistic views.

"It is important for us to speak the language of modern theater with the city and the world about the most intimate things. We want people to come here not only to watch the play, but also to engage in conversation with the theater, literature, music, art, and other people — and take this experience with them. "You'll come out different" is the idea that we bring to our guests," commented Eduard Boyakov, artistic director of the Ordynka Theater, on the new concept.

At the same time, after the renovation, the Theater on Ordynka retains the status of a Russian repertory theater. The 2026/2027 season will open on October 15 with the premiere of the play "Prima Donna Earrings" directed by Vladimir Antonov and Boyakov. The new season also includes premieres of "It's Not All Maslenitsa for a Cat" by Valentin Klementiev, "The Bear" by Gleb Puskepalis, "Confessions of a Simple-minded" by Viktor Kramer and others.

On October 1, the permanent exhibition complex "Parking Gallery" opened in Zaryadye. The new exhibition season started with two projects at once — the exhibition "ISSUE'26" and the exposition of the 7th Moscow Art Prize. The Parking Gallery will become part of a full-fledged exhibition cluster. In the spring of 2026, the Museum of Plastic Figures "Historial. Collection". Thus, for the first time, three exhibition projects will be available to Zaryadye visitors at the same time.
