The number of Russian tourists who visited Egypt in January–September 2026 increased by 23% compared to the same period last year. This was announced on October 5 by Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi.

"From January to September 25, 2026, the tourist flow from Russia increased by about 23% compared to the same period last year," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Russians retain the first place among foreign tourists coming to Egypt. In 2025, more than 2 million Russian citizens visited the country, and the current dynamics, according to Fathi, indicates a further increase in interest in the country.

He added that the main points of attraction for Russian tourists are the resorts of the Red Sea, as well as the attractions of Cairo and Giza, including the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

In addition, the Egyptian authorities intend to expand the tourist offer, combining beach holidays with cultural and sightseeing programs within one trip.

In August, Russian tourists complained about the unsatisfactory condition of rooms in five-star hotels in Egypt. According to vacationers, in some hotels they encountered worn-out furniture, faulty plumbing, dirty dishes and insufficient cleaning. Complaints were also raised about the range and quality of food, and in some cases, the condition of the beaches and the work of the staff.
