The United States allowed the postponement of new sanctions against Russia
The United States may postpone the decision on the introduction of new sanctions against Russia until the expiration of the 30-day period stipulated by law. This was announced on October 4 by the country's Energy Minister Chris Wright in an interview with CBS News.
According to him, American leader Donald Trump prefers to make such decisions closer to the deadline, pre-evaluating the possible consequences and compromises.
At the same time, the minister added that Trump continues to work on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Wright pointed out that the United States maintains an ongoing dialogue with both sides.
On September 18, the White House press service announced that Trump had signed a law on sanctions against Russia. This bill resolves and expands the legal sanctions, tariffs and prohibitions against the Russian Federation, as well as extends the existing sanctions against Iran.
After that, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, noted that the law on sanctions adopted in the United States could not have a positive impact on relations with Russia.
At the same time, Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the Law Enforcement Center in Moscow and the Moscow Region, suggested that the measures taken by Washington would negatively affect him in the first place. He recalled that the Russian side supplies fertilizers and critical metals to the American side.
