Axios reports deadlock in US-Iran talks
Qatar's mediation efforts this week to break through relations between the United States and Iran have not yielded results. This was reported on September 30 by the Axios agency, citing sources.
"The negotiations have reached an impasse. The Iranians are demanding what the United States cannot do, and the American side believes that it is gaining the upper hand, and therefore sees no need for compromise," one of the sources said.
The publication notes that on September 28, Qatari mediator Ali al-Tawadi held a meeting in New York with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Qatar's proposal to lift the naval blockade in exchange for Iran's nuclear concessions was discussed.
On September 24, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in an interview with Fox News, announced his intention to reach an agreement with the United States in compliance with international law. In addition, according to the president, Iran is ready to abandon uranium reserves with enrichment up to 60% in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
