In Russia, there are no plans to switch exclusively to remote electronic voting, since different ways of participating in elections should remain available to voters. This was announced on September 13 by Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova on the sidelines of the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg.

"Never. I think not," she replied in an interview with "NEW TASS" when asked about the possibility of completely abandoning traditional forms of voting in favor of only remote electronic format.

The head of the CEC explained that electronic voting does not replace other options, but complements them, allowing citizens to independently choose the most convenient way to participate in elections. According to her, the electoral system should not limit a person to one format.

Pamfilova noted that the choice of the voting method depends on the specific life situation of a citizen. She pointed out that a person can, for example, come to the site with his family, and at other times, being far from his place of residence, use the remote format.

On August 11, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development reported that over 1 million Russians had applied to participate in remote electronic voting using "Public Services." The largest number of applications came from the Moscow region — more than 175 thousand. Also among the leaders are the Rostov Region with 129.8 thousand applications, the Altai Territory — 117.8 thousand, the Sverdlovsk Region — 73.4 thousand and the Chuvash Republic — 60.7 thousand.
