The start and end times of classes are set by each school independently, but the educational process must meet the requirements of the SanPiN. This was announced on September 2 by Maxim Kostenko, an expert at the Ministry of Education of Russia, head of the Lesnev Institute of Educational Content and Methods.

"The school sets the school day schedule independently and fixes it in its local regulatory act," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the expert, lessons in schools can start no earlier than 8:00, and all basic training sessions should end no later than 19:00 if there is a second shift. Kostenko clarified that there should be a break of at least 30 minutes between the end of the last lesson and the start of additional classes or the next shift.

In addition, there are separate time restrictions for classes in the framework of additional education: for children under seven years old, they must end no later than 19:30, for schoolchildren from eight to 15 years old — no later than 20:00, and for teenagers 16-18 years old — no later than 21:00, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

The head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, said on August 31 that the agency had no plans to review the duration of education in Russian schools. The current 11-year system meets the needs of modern children. He recalled the introduction of unified federal basic general education programs. According to him, this approach makes it possible to ensure the same availability of high-quality education in all Russian regions.
