The demand for flights to Moldova has increased by more than a third in a year
The demand for flights from Russia to Moldova increased by 34.4% year-on-year by mid-August. This trend is 4.5 times higher than the growth rate of demand for foreign flights in general. This was reported to Izvestia on August 20 by experts from the Tutu travel service.
According to the service, the demand for all foreign flights from Russia increased by 7.8% over the same period. Moldova's share among foreign destinations increased by 0.27 percentage points.
At the same time, Moldova remains one of the more expensive destinations for travelers. The average cost of a round-trip flight is 57,995 rubles, compared to 36,938 rubles on average on foreign routes. During the year, the price of tickets to Moldova increased by 4.4%, which roughly corresponds to the general dynamics of the market.
The cost of such a flight is comparable to a trip to China, the United Arab Emirates, Israel or Egypt. Among the notable foreign destinations, only Abkhazia is growing faster than Moldova, where demand has increased by 102.5%. The leaders in dynamics also included China with an increase of 33.2% and Uzbekistan, where the indicator increased by 22.3%.
Inna Mukhina, an expert at the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), director of the Vostok-Intour tour operator, reported on August 14 that Russians' interest in traveling to the DPRK continues to grow — the total increase in tourist traffic has reached 15% this year alone. Among the most sought-after destinations, the expert named the Wonsan-Kalma resort on the coast of the Sea of Japan, trips to Pyongyang, mountain routes to Mount Paektu and holidays at ski resorts.
