The introduction of a paid electronic entry permit to Kazakhstan may negatively affect the development of tourist ties with Russia and a decrease in tourist flow from the country. This was announced on August 5 by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

"According to ATOR experts, if paid electronic permits for classic tourists are introduced, most likely, this will prove to be a hindering factor for the expansion of tourist ties between our two countries," RIA Novosti quoted the statement.

ATOR noted that at the moment it is not known whether exceptions will be provided for citizens of the EAEU member states and what the cost of processing the document will be.

In addition, the press service noted that Russian citizens most often use Kazakhstan for transit to third countries. At the same time, the main tourist flow to the republic remains small. In summer, Russian tourists mostly go to Aktau on the coast of the Caspian Sea, and in winter they choose ski resorts, including Shymkent and Borovoe.

It was noted yesterday that Kazakhstan may introduce paid electronic entry permits for foreign citizens and stateless persons. The project is still under public discussion. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan reported that the funds received are planned to be used for the maintenance and modernization of digital infrastructure, as well as to ensure the protection of personal data.
