Aeroflot plans to increase its fleet of aircraft and commission new domestic MC-21s. This became known on April 6 at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the head of the company, Sergey Alexandrovsky. The President also noted the company's successes over the year, in particular, the growth in passenger traffic. The plans for 2026 are to increase flights to the airports of Krasnodar and Gelendzhik.

What was discussed at the meeting

Aeroflot successfully completed the year 2025 — the company's revenue, according to Sergey Alexandrovsky's estimates, increased by 5% to 900 billion rubles. Seat utilization also increased to a historic 90.2% for the company, although for such a business model the average annual values are 82-85%.

"I see that in general, the company performed well last year, with good indicators. The volume of traffic has increased — not much, but it has increased nevertheless. The occupancy of the chairs has increased, and, accordingly, the profitability of the company has increased. The economy as a whole is normal," Vladimir Putin said.

In 2025, about 55.3 million passengers were transported by the Aeroflot Group, which also includes Rossiya Airlines and Pobeda low-cost airline. 42 million — on domestic air routes and more than 13 million — on international ones. One of the new areas that the company is actively developing is the Vietnamese resort of Nha Trang. "We started to implement it, and not only from Moscow, but also from the regions of the Russian Federation," said the head of the company. In total, the company flies to 297 destinations, 186 of them bypassing Moscow, which increases transport accessibility for residents of the regions.

In 2026, the Aeroflot Group expects to triple passenger traffic to Krasnodar and Gelendzhik airports to 1.5 million people. Both airports reopened in 2025 after they were closed in 2022 for security reasons. In total, 500 thousand passengers were transported through Gelendzhik and Krasnodar airports last year. Currently, flights are operated from Krasnodar to 13 destinations, including five international ones.

Aeroflot's fleet consists of 352 aircraft, Sergey Alexandrovsky said. According to him, it is planned to increase the fleet due to the start of operation of new domestic MC-21 aircraft. The Group plans to introduce 108 domestically produced aircraft by 2030.
