Student protests began in Zurich, Switzerland, which escalated into clashes with the police. This was reported on October 31 by the publication "20 Minuten".

"Left-wing extremist groups have called for a protest action in the fourth district of Zurich," the article says.

According to the newspaper, the organizers of the action in their appeals referred to student protests in several European countries. In the Langstrasse area, participants in an uncoordinated demonstration erected burning barricades, and the police pulled significant forces to the site. Law enforcement officers use water cannons and tear gas.

The protesters damaged the facades and windows of buildings, and seized and set fire to garbage trucks. According to the newspaper, the protesters also attacked police officers who were trying to help the injured teenager.

Among the reasons for the discontent are the high cost of housing, food and education. Some of the protesters also oppose the war in the Gaza Strip, the actions of the police and the strengthening of extreme right-wing movements.

The Hart van Nederland portal reported on October 31 that police arrested 34 people during protests in The Hague. During the clashes, the protesters threw burning pyrotechnic devices at the police. As a result, one law enforcement officer was injured — he was hospitalized with suspected hearing impairment. At the same time, as noted in the police, it was possible to prevent the looting of shops and acts of vandalism.

On October 31, Le Figaro newspaper reported that participants in a protest rally in Bordeaux, France, smashed a pinata in the shape of President Emmanuel Macron's head filled with counterfeit banknotes. According to the newspaper, the incident occurred during the third stage of a nationwide campaign against the rising cost of living. The situation is heating up all over the country — in some cities, rallies escalate into clashes with the police.
