A new complex for the production of rare earth metals will be built in Solikamsk, Perm Krai. This was announced on October 29 by Glavgosexpertiza of Russia on its website.

"The design capacity of the new production is about 2.5 thousand tons of finished products per year, including rare earth metals of the so—called "magnetic group" — neodymium and praseodymium," said Ruslan Tsivenko, a representative of Glavgosexpertiza of Russia, chief expert of the project.

According to him, an increase in the production of these metals will reduce Russia's dependence on imports. Neodymium and praseodymium are used in the production of powerful magnets for electronics, electric motors and wind power.

The complex will be built on the territory of the Solikamsk magnesium plant. Glavgosexpertiza of Russia has already issued a positive opinion on the construction of the facility. The raw materials for it will come from Lovozersky GOK in the Murmansk region.

Rosatom State Corporation intends to build a lithium mine in Mali. On September 26, project manager Andrey Minaev announced that in two years, specialists had conducted geological exploration at the Bugula field on an area of more than 200 square kilometers. More than 100 wells had been drilled and more than 20 km of core had been extracted.
