Psychologist, body-oriented specialist Sofia Kasimova said that the causes of insomnia are not always associated with a violation of the daily routine. Sometimes, the difficulty of falling asleep hides anxiety, emotional overexertion, and a subconscious desire to control one's own life.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, October 27, a psychologist noted that one of the causes of insomnia may be a kind of protest against the usual routine. A person consciously chooses nighttime activity and late awakening, because this way of life creates a sense of freedom and independence. At the same time, staying awake at night becomes not a physiological need, but a way to regain a sense of control.

Another common reason Kasimova called psychological overload. According to her, constant use of the phone before going to bed often turns out not to be the root cause of insomnia, but an attempt to distract from stress and unpleasant thoughts. Anxiety, fears and the desire to control everything prevent the nervous system from relaxing and having a good rest.

To solve the problem, the psychologist recommended first of all to understand the causes of sleep disorders. If insomnia is associated with an emotional state, working with a specialist can help. In addition, Kasimova advised taking the MEQ and MCTQ questionnaires, which make it possible to distinguish the natural late chronotype from the downed mode.

The expert also suggested that people with increased anxiety consider taking magnesium, in particular glycinate, one to two hours before bedtime. However, the effectiveness of such supplements for insomnia is not guaranteed, so it is better to discuss their use with a doctor.

Pavel Kudinov, a somnologist, noted in an interview with RT on October 23 that work or other activities in bed after waking up can lead to problems falling asleep. He stressed that without the ritual of going to bed and fixing the bed as a place exclusively for sleeping, problems with falling asleep may appear in the future.

On October 19, doctor Andrei Kabychkin warned that the habit of using a phone or laptop while lying down disrupts posture and impairs blood circulation. Also, watching the screen before going to bed does not allow the brain to prepare for rest, provoking insomnia. 360.ru .

Before that, on October 15, scientists found out that sleep disorders can affect not only well-being and concentration, but also the body's ability to cope with stress.

Psychologist Elizaveta Kulikova, in a conversation with the Moscow city news agency on October 1, said that regular lulling before bedtime can lead to the formation of a habit in which it becomes difficult for a person to fall asleep without rocking. In addition, swaying is contraindicated in people with vestibular disorders, a tendency to motion sickness, and inner ear problems.

In September, Marina Kalyuzhnaya, a psychiatrist and narcologist, told Moskva 24 that a chronic lack of deep sleep leads to anxiety disorders, and faith in one's own adaptation to noise only prevents one from seeing a doctor on time. In July, general practitioner Elena Morozova in an interview with Pravda.Ru said that sleep is a critical stage in the renewal of nervous tissue. With chronic sleep deprivation, the brain's clearance of beta-amyloids slows down, which significantly increases the risk of neurodegeneration.
