The head of the CPC spoke about the preparation of the program for the first cosmonaut from Myanmar

In accordance with the agreement, a training program has been developed for the first cosmonaut from Myanmar. This was announced on October 19 by Oleg Kononenko, head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC, part of Roscosmos).

"We have already prepared a program. This will be a routine training program for a person, any person, to fly into space. It is clear that, most likely, it will be a professional in some field, but the training will be like general preparation for space flight, and not any specific training," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to him, the course is focused on general preparation for space flight, and not on mastering any narrow specialization.

These may be citizens of Indonesia, North Korea, Vietnam or the Central African Republic, experts believe.

The Roscosmos state Corporation reported on its Telegram channel on February 26 that Russia and Myanmar had agreed to cooperate in the training of the first Myanmar cosmonaut. A corresponding memorandum was signed following the talks in Naypyidaw.
