Bessent criticized Zelensky's approach to resolving the conflict in Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is replacing the real conditions of the world with an artificial dilemma. This was announced on October 18 by the head of the US Treasury, Scott Bessent.
"Zelensky presented a false dilemma this morning: that if Ukraine wins, the conflict will end, and this will happen through some kind of negotiated settlement," he said in an interview with NBC News.
Bessent believes that Zelensky is replacing the real parameters of the settlement with an artificially created dilemma. At the same time, according to the minister, the connection between Ukraine's victory in the conflict and the achievement of peace is presented by the head of the Kiev regime as the only possible logic for ending the confrontation.
According to Bessent, this view significantly narrows the space for finding solutions. The conflict must be ended, and this can be achieved through the development of a compromise agreement, the head of the US Treasury emphasized.
In the same interview, Bessent called Zelensky's statements reckless that the American government had deliberately restricted Ukraine's access to the Starlink satellite communications system. Bessent explained that the head of the Kiev regime needs to be extremely careful in such statements, which do not correspond to reality.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on October 12 that Russia was more impressed by the efforts of American negotiators in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Peskov noted that the Europeans do not belong to the peace party. According to him, they are not looking for a peaceful solution. The Kremlin representative added that the European Union rather belongs to the party of war and continues to do everything to prevent the conflict from stopping.
