Information about a significant decrease in prices for tours to Turkey due to bad weather is not true. This was announced to Izvestia on October 16 by Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT).

Earlier, information spread online about an alleged sharp drop in prices for tours to Antalya amid heavy rains in the country.

"We have to disappoint you: there is no data confirming the fall in prices and the connection with bad weather. Individual offers can change quickly depending on availability, but this does not prove that tours have fallen massively in price due to bad weather," Gorin said.

At the same time, tourists from Russia enjoy their holidays at resorts even in rainy conditions. In one of the videos about the weather in Turkey, which are widely published on social networks, it is noted: "It's still better than at work."

In Istanbul, three people died due to heavy rains on October 15, the lower floors of buildings were flooded and transport links were disrupted. Sabiha Gokcen Airport stopped accepting flights, and incoming planes were sent to alternate airfields. Local authorities have suspended classes in schools and urged residents to stay at home.

The October rains were the heaviest on record since 1942. In some areas, two to three monthly precipitation rates have fallen in a short period of time.
