- Novak pointed to strengthening the independent protection of refineries from drone attacks.
Russia continues to strengthen its air defense and passive defense systems for oil refineries. This was announced on October 16 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to reporters on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week.
"The company independently provides passive protection: various designs that provide protection against drone attacks," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to Novak, the work is carried out in two directions. The first involves strengthening the active protection of facilities with the help of air defense systems. The Ministry of Defense cooperates with oil companies, which, among other things, participate in financing the purchase of necessary equipment. The second area is related to the passive protection of enterprises.
The Deputy Prime Minister also added that Rosatom is doing everything necessary to ensure the safety of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, its reliable operation and operability. He noted that in case of emergency situations at the station, appropriate measures are being taken.
On the same day, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev pointed out that Russia has created and successfully operates a system to protect refineries from external attacks. The Minister also noted that the stable supply of fuel to the domestic market remains a key priority for the ministry.
