The capital of the Amur region, Blagoveshchensk, will expand the range of tourist destinations together with the city of Zhuhai in China. The interest in the city and the increase in passenger traffic will increase due to the opening of the cable car.

The strengthening of tourist ties with the Chinese twin cities was discussed at a joint videoconference between the heads of Blagoveshchensk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Nizhny Novgorod and the Chinese cities of Zhuhai and Heihe.

According to Oleg Imameev, Mayor of Blagoveshchensk, quoted by PriamurMedia news agency, over 170 thousand tourists from China and about 200 thousand guests from other Russian regions visited the center of the region in nine months. The region itself is actively developing event, industrial, ecological and ethnographic tourism.

In the future, guests will find new routes, joint cultural projects and a unified calendar of events for the next year, 2027. As the mayor of Blagoveshchensk said, cooperation between the cities goes beyond formal relations, and a common calendar of events will be the next step towards developing partnership.

The cities of the region are interested not only in the exchange of tourists, but also in holding joint holidays and the participation of creative teams in large-scale cultural events.

In mid-August, it was reported that the world's first cross-border cable car between Russia and China was almost ready. The project is expected to be fully completed by the end of the year. The road will connect the Chinese city of Heihe and the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk. The remaining equipment will be installed in September. At the same time, the cable car will operate for about 1.2 thousand hours without passengers, because countries need to ensure the safety of the facility. One of the opening dates under consideration is May 2027.
