A court in Balashikha, Moscow region, arrested for two months a 40-year-old local resident accused of assaulting his ex-wife with boiling water. This was reported on October 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The man was charged with intentionally causing serious harm to health. According to investigators, on October 8, a quarrel broke out between the former spouses in an apartment on Yaganova Street. During the conflict, the man grabbed a kettle and poured boiling water on the woman, as a result of which she received serious thermal burns.

The man did not admit his guilt. The prosecutor's office insisted on detention, pointing out that the defendant had previously been repeatedly convicted of crimes against the person and, remaining at large, could hide or put pressure on the victim and witnesses.

On October 12, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Saratov region reported that a Russian man had set fire to an iron trailer where his wife was with another man. As a result of the incident, he died, but the woman managed to escape. It turned out that during the commission of the crime, a resident of the Saratov region was drunk. A criminal case of murder has now been opened against him under two parts of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
