- New requirements for public transport stops will be introduced in the Russian Federation on November 10
Starting from November 10, a new national standard will come into force in Russia, which sets requirements for the placement and arrangement of public transport stops. The document takes into account modern requirements for safety, passenger convenience and accessibility of transport for people with limited mobility, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on October 15.
According to the standard, stops will be divided into three categories. The basic points will include points with passenger traffic of less than 100 people per day, the improved ones — from 100 to 500 passengers, and the expanded ones — more than 500 passengers. Each category has its own set of infrastructure requirements.
GOST also regulates the distances between stops, the arrangement of boarding platforms and ways to inform passengers. The standard is planned to be applied during the construction of new stops and the planned renovation of existing ones. Its introduction should unify the approach to the organization of bus stop infrastructure in Russian regions, the Ministry of Transport noted.
Thus, it is recommended to place stops no further than 250 m on foot from the places of attraction of passengers. When transferring between routes, the distance of the pedestrian crossing between the stops should not exceed 120 m. There should be a place for a wheelchair (wheelchair/child's) with a size of at least 0.9×1.2 m in the pavilions. It is forbidden to place stops in areas with insufficient visibility and in other dangerous places. Special traffic stops can be installed for safety.
In addition, it is recommended to provide Wi-Fi, electronic communications, smartphone charging, and video surveillance for improved and expanded city stops. GOST also provides for different types of bus shelters — in certain climatic conditions they can be positioned with the back wall to the roadway.
On the same day, the Moscow City Duma simplified the procedure for the free use of paid parking for owners of two-wheeled motor vehicles in the Moscow region. The new rules apply to parking lots located on lands that are state or municipal property.
