So, in the Stavropol Territory, in the evening on the 11th km of the Georgievsk - Novopavlovsk highway, a car driver did not give an advantage to two teenagers crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing, and ran over them. As a result of the accident, a 14-year-old girl died, and a 15-year-old boy was injured and, after receiving medical attention, was sent for outpatient treatment.
"The State Traffic Inspectorate urges drivers to exercise increased care when approaching pedestrian crossings and strictly comply with the requirements of the Traffic Rules to provide an advantage to pedestrians. It is necessary to reduce speed in advance, carefully monitor the situation on both sides of the roadway and be prepared for a complete stop of the vehicle. Special care should be taken at night, when limited visibility makes it difficult to detect people on the road in a timely manner," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
In 2025, Russian courts prosecuted 115.8 thousand drivers for driving into oncoming traffic. This is 9% less than a year earlier.
