The electric motorcycle set a record for the range on a single charge
The Zero DS electric motorcycle traveled 436.5 km on a single battery charge, setting a world record for the longest ride on a mass-produced electric motorcycle without recharging. The achievement is registered by the Guinness Book of Records. The previous record was 310.7 km. This was announced by the American company Zero Motorcycles.
The race took place from the French-Italian Alpine region towards the Mediterranean coast. The test involved three serial Zero electric motorcycles (DS, SR/S and DSR/X) and three drivers. All of them surpassed the previous result, and the Belgian Jelle Versten covered the longest distance on the DS model.

The standard Zero DS battery with a capacity of 15.6 kWh was supplemented with an optional 3.6 kWh Power Tank unit. The total battery capacity has reached 19.2 kWh. Otherwise, the bike was not modified, it retained the standard tires and serial configuration.
When choosing a model for a record-breaking trip, energy efficiency and comfort during a long trip were taken into account, the company noted. The cast wheels provide aerodynamic advantages over the spoked wheels of the more powerful DSR/X model, while the less powerful engine reduces weight. DS's vertical landing also proved to be more convenient for a route that took more than eight hours.
According to the factory specifications, the Zero DS is capable of traveling up to 240 km in urban mode and about 185 km on the highway. The model is equipped with a 60-horsepower electric motor. In Europe, a bike costs about 17 thousand euros. Zero Motorcycles was founded in 2006 in the USA.
Earlier, on September 25, it was reported that Audi had set a record for the range of an electric car without recharging. The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron covered 1,338 km without stopping. The achievement is recorded by the Guinness Book of Records.
