- The doctor spoke about the reasons for the increase in the incidence of community-acquired pneumonia
General practitioner Nadezhda Chernyshova said that community-acquired pneumonia is a disease that occurs outside a medical institution or is diagnosed within the first 48 hours after the patient is admitted to the hospital.
In conversation with aif.ru On Wednesday, October 14, she noted that the autumn increase in the incidence of pneumonia is quite natural. With the onset of cold weather, the number of respiratory infections increases, which in some cases lead to complications, including pneumonia.
The expert explained that one of the main reasons for the seasonal increase in the incidence is close contacts between people. After the holidays, children return to schools and kindergartens, students go to colleges and universities, and adults actively interact with colleagues in offices. This contributes to the spread of infections, especially among people with weakened immune systems.
Chernyshova called the increase in the proportion of atypical pathogens of pneumonia, in particular mycoplasmas and chlamydia, another factor. In addition, respiratory viruses become more active with cold weather. Currently, rhinoviruses, adenoviruses and parainfluenza viruses are mainly circulating, which can cause both mild forms of the disease and complications in the form of pneumonia.
The doctor added that bacterial pathogens, including staphylococci and streptococci, can also become active against the background of acute respiratory viral infections. Weakened by a viral infection, the body becomes more vulnerable to bacterial complications, including pneumonia.
On the eve of October 13, a seasonal increase in the incidence of pneumonia was recorded in Russia. Adults are mostly sick, RT clarifies. Rospotrebnadzor stressed the need to inform Russians about preventive measures. The head of the department, Anna Popova, called for keeping the morbidity situation in the country under control and paying special attention to community-acquired pneumonia, the NSN notes. Among the main measures are hygiene, ventilation of premises, timely medical treatment and vaccination. Life.ru .
The agency added that at the same time, the proportion of influenza viruses is gradually increasing. A(H1N1) predominates among them. The situation with enterovirus infections remains stable, the Moscow City News Agency notes.
