An underground mining farm was discovered on UAZ
Equipment for illegal mining of cryptocurrencies was found in one of the production buildings of the UAZ Avtokompont subsidiary in Ulyanovsk. This is reported by Ulpressa with reference to the head of the Department of information and public Relations of UAZ Konstantin Sazonov.
According to preliminary estimates, the damage from unaccounted-for electricity consumption exceeded 1 million rubles. The equipment was located in the basement of the workshop, which, according to the newspaper, was penetrated through hidden manholes disguised with metal sheets. Police officers arrived at the enterprise to inspect and seize the equipment.
Operatives came to the illegal mining farm after detaining a group of Ulyanovsk residents on suspicion of stealing bicycles, the report says. While working on this case, law enforcement officers received information about servers operating in the factory area.
"The equipment was identified by the UAZ security service. We are working with the investigation to identify the persons involved and determine the amount of damage," the press service of the Ulyanovsk automobile company confirmed the information to Izvestia.
Earlier, on October 6, it was reported that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant had started implementing the upgraded TCS NAMI active safety system in diesel and gasoline versions of new model range vehicles equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
