Yura Borisov will leave the cast of the play "Hamlet" at the Moscow Art Theater
Actor Yura Borisov will leave the cast of the play "Hamlet" at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, and Oliver Mara will play the role of the Prince of Denmark. This was announced on October 12 on the theater's website.
"We thank Yura Borisov for the way he made this play. Yura will also play Hamlet on October 22 and November 5," the message says.
The Moscow Art Theater noted that the production is entering a new stage of its development. The last two performances starring Borisov will take place on October 22 and November 5.
Variety magazine reported on October 6 that Borisov could be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actor category for the film Artificial Intelligence. Guadagnino's painting is dedicated to the events of November 2023 at OpenAI, when the board of directors dismissed CEO Sam Altman, but a few days later he returned to his post. The film will be released in the United States on December 25.
Borisov himself called his possible Oscar nomination a miracle. Critics suggest that the actor may become a nominee in the Best Actor category. At the same time, Borisov noted that awards and prizes are not what he makes films for.
