At least four people died due to the effects of Hurricane Isaias, which struck the southeastern United States and remains a threat of flooding. This was reported on October 10 by the American television channel CBS News.

"As a result of the hurricane, at least four people died: two in Alabama and two in Florida," the text of the publication says.

It is specified that two of them died as a result of the collapse of trees on their houses. Tens of thousands of people were evacuated from dangerous areas. More than 600 thousand consumers were left without electricity.

Isaiah, which became the first hurricane of the Atlantic season in 2026, hit the Gulf coast in the Destin area of Florida as a category two hurricane, the material says. A few hours later, it weakened to a post-tropical cyclone. Despite the decrease in strength, the cyclone may bring strong winds, flash floods and storm surges over a large area of the south-east of the country over the weekend.

On October 9, the press service of the US National Hurricane Monitoring Center announced that Hurricane Isaias had struck the coast of the US state of Florida. According to US Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mallin, requests for a state of emergency in Florida and Alabama have been approved under the leadership of US President Donald Trump.
