Excessive pay, lack of clear requirements, and requests to transfer money before starting work may indicate a fraudulent part-time job advertisement. On October 10, Yana Maz, the chief lawyer of the Naimix part-time job platform, told Izvestia about what signs should alert the contractor even before responding to the vacancy.

"If the contractor is offered to pay first for the opportunity to earn money, it is worth stopping and carefully checking the customer and the conditions. Especially if the transfer needs to be made to an individual's card or to an account unrelated to the company," the lawyer noted.

According to Maz, fraudsters can demand money under various pretexts: for registration, training, registration of a pass, purchase of a uniform or access to the database of orders. Before starting cooperation, such requirements should be checked especially carefully.

When a high payment should alert

An unusually high bid does not in itself mean that the ad is fraudulent. Increased pay may be associated with an urgent exit, a night shift, work on a holiday, or a shortage of performers.

However, the combination of high pay with lack of experience and minimal requirements requires additional verification. It is important to understand in advance how much work the amount is indicated for: per hour, completed order, a certain period or a specific number of tasks.

The announcement should also explain the main conditions: the contractor's duties, place and time of work, the amount and procedure of payment, as well as the customer's details. Phrases like "simple job, high income", "details after registration" or "we'll tell you everything in private messages" do not allow you to evaluate the offer before responding. If the essential conditions become known only after the start of communication or change later, this is a reason to exercise caution.

What data cannot be transmitted

To formalize cooperation, the customer may indeed need personal data, but their list must correspond to the purpose of the interaction and the specific stage of registration.

"It's worth being wary if, before discussing the work itself, a person is asked to go to a dubious website, provide data from Public Services, SMS codes from third—party services, or other information that is not required to consider a candidate," the expert said.

A request to enter your bank card details, including the CVC code, on an unknown website may also be a dangerous signal.

Why can't you agree in a hurry

Another sign of a potentially dangerous offer may be pressure on the applicant. If they are in a hurry to transfer money or require them to make a decision in a few minutes, they should stop and check the information.

Before starting a part-time job, it is also recommended to compare the actual conditions once again with those indicated in the ad. If responsibilities, schedule, or amount of payment have changed, it is better to clarify and fix the agreements before starting work.

However, a separate unusual feature does not always mean fraud. An urgent exit, a high bid, instant messenger communication, or the need to provide documents may be the usual terms of cooperation.

According to Maz, the proposal should be evaluated in aggregate. It is important for the contractor to understand in advance who the customer is, what exactly needs to be done, when and how much they will pay for it, and whether they are required to pay in advance or provide unnecessary personal data.
