A math and science project called the League of Young Olympians is starting in Moscow for students in grades 3-6, said Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development. Thanks to the new project, almost 10,000 schoolchildren will be able to deepen their subject knowledge and prepare for intellectual competitions.

The Deputy Mayor stressed that Moscow pays great attention to mathematical and natural science fields of study. "The earlier a child tries himself in these disciplines, the sooner his abilities can be noticed and interest can be maintained. This approach allows us to prepare talented students step by step for high results at the Olympics. A new stage of this work has become the League of Young Olympians project, which we are launching for children from the third and sixth grades," said Rakova.

According to the deputy mayor, special clubs will be launched in more than 40 schools. Participants of the program will regularly solve problems in an interactive format, conduct practical experiments, listen to lectures, attend excursions and scientific festivals.

At the end of the year, fifth— and sixth-grade students with the best results will be invited to attend free summer field math and science classes at the Center for Pedagogical Excellence. "The teachers of the national teams, winners and prize—winners of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of Schoolchildren, will study with the children there," said Rakova.

To participate, you must undergo a diagnosis. The first one will take place from October 5 to November 13 at the Moscow Electronic School (MASH). The winners and prize-winners of the last season of the Olympiad "Ready for life in a smart city!" are allowed to participate in the project without qualifying tests.

This year, Moscow school students received 1972 diplomas at the All-Russian School Olympiad. 35 Muscovites became the absolute winners. 133 participants of the capital's national team received diplomas in two or more subjects. Muscovites account for 46% of all awards given.
