Russians have become more likely to choose a foreign vacation in winter

Russians are more likely to choose foreign vacation destinations ahead of the winter season. The share of hotel bookings abroad rose to 62% from 60% a year earlier, while domestic travel accounted for 38% of bookings against 40% last season. This is evidenced by the data of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which "Izvestia" got acquainted with on September 25.

The average cost of living abroad increased from 16.2 thousand to 18.5 thousand rubles per night. At the same time, the duration of trips has hardly changed: travelers book accommodation for an average of 5.8 days compared to 5.9 days a year earlier.

Thailand remains the most popular foreign destination, accounting for 29.7% of all bookings. The average length of stay there is 6.7 days, and the cost of accommodation is about 13.9 thousand rubles per night.

Turkey was the main growth in demand. Interest in the destination increased by 80%, and its share in the total volume of bookings reached 5.6%. Tourists plan to spend an average of 9.2 days in the country, the cost of accommodation is about 12.1 thousand rubles per night.

Vietnam retained a share of 5.3% of the total number of orders. The average duration of a trip there is 6.4 days, and a night at the hotel costs about 10.9 thousand rubles. Demand for China increased by 19% and reached 5.1% of all foreign bookings.

Tourists are increasingly choosing peace and security

At the same time, interest in France decreased by 40% — its share was 4.2%. The country remains the most expensive foreign destination among popular options: the average cost of a night in a hotel reaches 25.3 thousand rubles, and the average trip time is 6.1 days.

In Russia, the average cost of living in winter increased slightly — from 11.1 thousand to 11.3 thousand rubles per night. At the same time, the average duration of trips increased from 3.8 to 4 days.

Moscow has become the leader among Russian destinations. The capital accounts for 29.6% of all bookings, and demand has increased by 20% compared to last year. The average price of accommodation is 10.8 thousand rubles per night, and tourists plan to stay in the city for about 4.1 days.

At the same time, interest in St. Petersburg decreased: the number of bookings decreased by 15%, its share was 14.9%. The average cost of a night in a hotel reaches 8.7 thousand rubles, and the duration of the trip is 2.9 days.

A drop in demand was also recorded in the southern and ski areas. Interest in Estosadok decreased by 27%, and in Sochi — by 22%. At the same time, Estosadok remains the most expensive Russian destination among popular options with an average cost of 20.5 thousand rubles per night.

OneTwoTrip also noted a change in Russians' preferences when planning winter holidays on September 21. According to the service, the share of long-term foreign trips for the winter period increased, and Thailand, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan were the leaders among the most popular destinations. Analysts also noted an increase in interest in five-star hotels and more flexible accommodation formats, including apartments and guesthouses.
