Russians were warned about the shortage of tours for the autumn holidays

Families with children have started booking trips in advance for the autumn holidays, which in 2026 will be held from October 24 to November 3. The demand for these dates is already about 3-5% higher than a year earlier, and the most sought-after hotels and convenient flights are gradually becoming unavailable. The travel expert of Adventura, Yana Klimakova, told Izvestia about this on September 11.

"At first glance, an increase of several percent may seem small. But vacation dates are very concentrated: a huge number of families want to leave at about the same time. Therefore, even such an increase is reflected quite quickly in the availability of specific hotels, room categories and convenient flights," Klimakova explained.

Egypt and Turkey remain the main destinations for family holidays in the fall. At the same time, according to the expert, interest in Vietnam and China is growing. Compared to last year, the demand for Egypt and Vietnam has increased especially noticeably, while the popularity of the UAE has decreased somewhat.

When choosing a family trip, practical issues are primarily taken into account: the convenience of the road, the availability of a suitable beach, meals for the child and the infrastructure at the hotel. According to Klimakova, tourists without children are more likely to choose a destination because of excursions, entertainment or an unusual route. Families have to consider more factors, so suitable options run out faster.

"The shortage of good hotels for vacation dates is already being felt. In some popular facilities, sales of certain categories of rooms have been stopped. I would be particularly attentive to Vietnam, Maldives, Tanzania and Thailand right now. If a family is tied to specific dates and wants a certain hotel, it becomes risky to postpone the decision," the expert noted.

Russian citizens often prefer the countries of South-East Asia.

The average duration of autumn family trips is 7-10 nights. According to the expert, early booking allows you to save more options: choose the right room, a convenient departure time and the right hotel.

As the holidays approach, the cost of tours is also gradually increasing, Klimakova added. First, tourists choose the most affordable accommodation categories, after which more expensive options remain on sale. Holidays at the end of October can already cost significantly more than similar trips in September.

The expert also advises against counting on a large number of burning offers before the holidays. In popular destinations, some hotels may switch to stop-sale mode, and the most convenient flights with a comfortable departure time fill up quickly.

"Sometimes it seems logical to wait: suddenly, something cheaper will appear closer to the dates. On vacation, this strategy often works the other way around. As a result, there remains a flight at an inconvenient time, a limited choice of rooms or a completely different hotel," Klimakova said.

According to her, if the dates of a family trip have already been determined, it is better to book a vacation in advance. This allows you to reduce the number of compromises and choose an option that meets the expectations of the whole family.
